Nigerian rapper Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, also known by his stage name Zlatan, has expressed discontent regarding the country’s increasing economic difficulties, accusing the government of ignoring the hardships faced by its residents.

In a conversation with UK-based media personality Madame Joyce, the Zanku (Leg Work) artist expressed regret that many Nigerians have become numb to hardship due to years of inaction by their government.

“For years, we’ve grown accustomed to enduring and smiling through hardships, but the government remains inactive in addressing the issue,” Zlatan stated, highlighting the complex and entrenched nature of the situation.

The rapper made these comments in response to a comment by British rapper Dave, who humorously highlighted the disparity between Nigerians lavishly spending in nightclubs and the widespread poverty evident on the streets.

Zlatan admitted that inequality has become a hallmark of life in Nigeria, with a small proportion of residents living in opulence while millions face difficulties every day. He also observed that certain people have become excessively reliant on financial assistance, rather than looking for ways to enhance their circumstances.

He urged Nigerians to adopt a diligent work ethic and perseverance, emphasizing that personal accountability should be paired with calls for improved governance.

Zlatan stated that despite his dissatisfaction with the government’s inability to implement decisive economic reforms and the current hardship, he believes that the collective effort of the people and accountability from their leaders are crucial for rebuilding national stability and dignity.
