Cam’ron had no issue giving credit to J. Cole was touted as a future “legend,” yet remained tight-lipped about a lawsuit.

Breaking news reported on last Tuesday (Oct. 28) revealed that Cam’ron is allegedly suing J. Cole’s collaboration on the song “Ready ’24” is notable. J. Cole’s track was featured on his 2024 mixtape, Might Delete Later, and was recorded in 2022. According to the TMZ report, the North Carolina-based artist agreed to either collaborate on another song or appear on the “It Is What It Is” podcast in exchange for his verse.

Killa Cam reportedly told TMZ that despite two years of efforts to either get the Dreamville rapper on his podcast or collaborate on another song, his attempts have been unsuccessful. The Purple Haze rapper is allegedly seeking equal co-writer credit and fair compensation for the recording, including an accurate accounting of the profits it earned.

Filing a lawsuit against one of his peers as a rapper is bound to spark controversy. A clip circulating online on Wednesday (Nov. 5) prompted “Talk With Flee” co-host Sen City to try and get Cam’ron to comment on the issue, but this didn’t work out as expected.

J. Cole is indeed the artist from North Carolina often referred to as the prodigal son. “What are you suing J. Cole for, my man?” Sen City asked. “He doesn’t bother anyone.”

The only response he received was Cam’ron, wearing sunglasses, largely ignoring the question.

Senator City tried again. He’s well on his way to becoming a rap legend. Leaves you feeling like saying, ‘No, I think I’ll just pass.’ Let’s just drop the past or whatever – TMZ is right, you’re suing him?

Cam’ron responded to only the first part of the inquiry, stating “I think J. Cole is undoubtedly destined to become a rap legend. Completely and absolutely certain.

“He doesn’t get off that easily?” Sen City asked one last time, only to receive more silence.

In the business world, discretion can be a virtue; Cam’ron’s silence on the alleged lawsuit has done little to alleviate the apparent strain. The fallout from “Ready ’24” appears to be far from resolution, whether it occurs in a courtroom or in secret negotiations.
