Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has revealed the behind-the-scenes details of the creation of his hit single with Davido and Seun Kuti.

In an online interview that resurfaced on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the artist behind the song Declan Rice spoke about the factors that led to the record’s creation, citing Davido’s persistence and urgency as key influences.

Odumodublvck stated that his collaboration with Davido, who affectionately called him “D-Rice” due to his hit single of the same name, started when Davido began contacting him from overseas. Davido phoned me when he was in London, saying, ‘We are going to record today,’ he recalled. He phoned me a second time when he was in Ghana. I informed him that I was in Lagos, and he responded by saying, ‘Oh yeah, come today, come today!’ It was by doing that that we made the record Grooving, which is truly amazing.

Davido’s hectic travel commitments did not prevent the two artists from eventually collaborating to record the energetic single, which is featured on Odumodublvck’s 2025 album Industry Machine.

The rapper also discussed the importance of collaborating with Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat founder Fela Anikulapo Kuti, on the same song. I sent it to Seun Kuti, son of Fela Anikulapo. The African legacy is a part of who he is, according to Odumodublvck. “It’s astonishing because I used to listen to Fela while growing up, and now having his son involved in my project feels truly legendary.”

Odumodublvck effectively brings together different age groups with his track Grooving, combining his energetic rap style with Davido’s Afrobeats influence and Seun Kuti’s genuine Afrobeat heritage, resulting in a record that combines legacy and contemporary rhythm in a single impactful moment.
