The Qwabe twins, Viggy and Virginia, took pride in showcasing their cultural heritage by participating in this year’s Reed Dance festival.

The event was held for the very first time at the King’s palace in eMashobeni.

The annual Umkhosi Womhlanga has typically taken place at the eNyokeni palace, causing this year’s event to be a historic turning point.

The Afropop duo participated in a Saturday, 13 September 2025 celebration with hundreds of maidens to honour purity and tradition.

On Instagram, they posted updates of themselves getting ready for the festival, along with pictures taken at the event.

The comment section was inundated with messages of love and support, with fans commending the sisters for their cultural heritage.

The twins frequently discuss the importance of the Reed Dance in their lives, stating that it serves as a means to motivate other young women.

“We are demonstrating to women of our age that it is possible to be a well-known musician while maintaining one’s chastity.” They previously stated that the reed dance is very important and has played a pivotal role in their lives.

In accordance with tradition, unmarried women in traditional Zulu clothing must undergo a test to demonstrate their purity before they are permitted to give reeds to the King.

King Misuzulu told the crowd that he cannot marry someone of a similar age to his children, instructing men to respect young women.

He advised the young women to voice their concerns if any men tried to get close to them.
